- Willy: The protagonist. A salesman that has dedicated his entire life to his job. Strongly desires to be successful and provide for his family, but is a failure. Has trouble distinguishing between perception and reality. Suicidal. His life is a lie.
- Linda: Willy's wife. Loves him unconditionally. Protective of Willy. Treats him like child in fear that she may make his situation worse. Passive to the point it is almost harmful towards Willy's health.
- Biff: Willy and Linda's son. Used to be successful until he discovered his father was having an affair. Dislikes his father for this, but still feels his inherent care for his father. In the end, he sees the world for what it is, unlike Willy.
- Happy: Willy and Linda's son. Corporate womanizer. Lies about position on ladder to feel and portray success just like Willy. Finds no pleasure in his various escapades, would rather be with someone like his mother.
- The Woman: Unnamed and unknown mistress of Willy's. Leads to Biff's resentment towards Willy, and him failing out of high school.
